BAE Systems & Rosebank Engineering establishing operations in S.A.

BAE Systems Australia will establish an aerospace component manufacturing operation in Adelaide to produce parts for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) being developed in the US. .... Defence Industries Minister Jack Snelling said that to complement the BAE Systems Australia operation, Rosebank Engineering would establish a specialised metal finishing facility in Adelaide.

Rosebank achieves Authorised Maintenance Organisation (AMO) Status for its Airport West facility

The Commonwealth of Australia’s Director General of Technical Airworthiness (DGTA) AIRCDRE. T. J Saunder on 17 October approved the Rosebank Engineering Airport West Site as an Authorised Maintenance Organisation (AMO).

Juliet Brennan, Site Operations Manager for Rosebank, travelled to India on the April trade mission. Ms Brennan said that travelling to India gave her a real sense of the energy, optimism and drive of the people and culture. Hearing from, and being able to engage directly with, the various industry groups and sectors also provided Ms Brennan with an almost overwhelming appreciation of the opportunities in India, the size of the current market and opportunities for expansion of future markets.

Rosebank Engineering Acquires Honeywell Aerospace Military Mechanical MRO Business In Australia

On 20 July 2011, Rosebank Engineering committed to the purchase of HONEYWELL’s Australian Military Mechanical Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) business based in Melbourne’s Airport West. As part of the purchase agreement Rosebank obtains a licence and supply agreement to support HONEYWELL equipment as a HONEYWELL Authorized Service Center.

EXTRACT from the Defence News Website Daryll Macklin, Site Manager for Rosebank Engineering at RAAF Base Amberley, had the honour of marshalling in No 6 Squadron F-111 A8-125 after its final flight on December 3. Mr Macklin was a CPL Airframe Fitter in June 1973 when he marshalled in the first F-111 that landed at Amberley from the USA. That aircraft was A8-125, the same one Mr Macklin marshalled in 37 and a half years later.

After 19 years of overhaul and remanufacture the last F-111 Servo Damper Servo Valve (SDSV) has been completed at REB using the same Image 3000 test bench originally installed in the (then newly commissioned) class 100 cleanroom at Port Melbourne for this very task.

Warren Centre Awards Gordon Kennett Innovation Heroes Award

It is with great pride that Rosebank Engineering announces that founder and Managing Director Gordon Kennett is a recipient of the Warren Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Heroes Award. The Warren Centre, part of the University of Sydney, awarded the Heroes Award to Mr Kennett for his pioneering work in founding and developing precision engineering technology required to meet the demanding requirements for the manufacture and sustainment of Australia’s military aircraft fleets. The award recognises Gordon’s pioneering and continuing efforts that for nearly 30 years has seen the development of unique technological and innovative engineering solutions and facilities to help keep Australia’s military aircraft flying.

COMBET OPENS ULTRA PRECISION

Greg Combet, Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Procurement, today officially opened Rosebank Engineering’s Ultra Precision Center in Bayswater in Victoria. The Ultra Precision Centre is a leading edge metal engineering facility with the capability to support military platforms including the F-111, F/A-18 Hornet and AP-3C Orion aircraft, as well as helicopters and emerging capabilities such as the Global Hawk and other Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

After 31 years, Rosebank’s original home in Nott St Port Melbourne has closed. The relocation to the new Headquarters in Mountain Highway Bayswater, offers the opportunity to consolidate the two Melbourne facilities on one large site in Melbourne ’s outer East Industrial precinct. The site will provide for a much larger Precision Hydraulics and Fine Mechanism Facility (PHMF) and efficiencies in workflow and management of resources.

Transition of F/A-18 Hydraulics
