The Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton returned to Bayswater

13 March 2006

After a year long journey, the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton returned to Bayswater on 13 March, within 200 meters of where all the metallic components and face of the Queens Baton were made.

It was pleasing to see so many of the staff and their families who were involved in this historic program there to witness the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay through the Shire of Knox and on through Bayswater.

The final manufacturing program incorporated 744,000 lines of NC code covering the baton’s 1,544 surfaces, 225 machining operations and 27 different tools that are required to produce the finished item.  Cycle time was 30 hours” detailed Paul PingNam Rosebank’s Operations Manager Melbourne.

“Our company has been built on innovation and value for money for our clients, and this philosophy matched well the aims and objectives of Designer Paul Charlwood and the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation.  Participation in project allowed us to be part of an exciting step in history and will help us to establish our company as a centre of excellence in all that we do”; Mr. Kennett stated.
