ESA MOU between Rosebank Engineering Pty Ltd and Sandvik Coromant Australia

31 May 2006

An Extended Service Agreement Memorandum of Understanding between Rosebank Engineering Pty Ltd and Sandvik Coromant Australia (Tooling, Specialist Tooling) was signed in May. The ESA MOU focus will have special emphasis on:
• Cost reductions;
• Improved quality;
• Productivity; and
• Profitability
for the benefit of both parties.

In short, the ESA provides that Rosebank Eng’s productivity level will be improved, total cost per component will be reduced, and the results of any testing or analysis will be documented and discussed by the Parties.

Within the metal-cutting process Sandvik Coromant offers the following co-operation:
• Optimisation of tooling;
• Standardise and rationalise cutting tools;
• Reduce floor-to-floor time cycles;
• Improve process security;
• Identify “bottle-necks”;
• Improve component quality;
• Reduce scrapping (caused by tooling issues); and
• Provide Training (a significant benefit that David Bridges REB has already identified for upcoming manufacturing projects).

Rationalise and clean up - Jointly completed by Sandvik and Rosebank staff to produce the desired results for known jobs within Rosebank.

Optimization and Expertise - Optimise consumable tooling to ensure optimum performance. Viz. specific jobs or opportunities arise for trialing, 2/ Training in house to ensure cutting data and the latest machining methods are understood.

Control - Interface input and controls for REIMs for data collection.

PIP (Productivity Improvement Program) - To ensure that the results from the first 2 steps are acted on. This also means that new methods of machining and or tooling are introduced into Rosebank in a timely manor assisted by Sandvik.

Interimly, Phil Ellard will continue to manage Tooling at REB.
